October was Energy Awareness Month and conserving energy was one of the main focuses. This means the businesses and homes in the New Orleans communities can find ways to use energy wisely. According to reports, small businesses across the country spend over $60 billion a year on energy.
This is where Energy Smart comes into play. This program is an energy efficiency program that is run by Entergy New Orleans. The program is open to all customers in the community and is currently offering free energy assessments to small businesses in Orleans Parish. By doing this, the program homes to uncover opportunities to reduce their energy use, save on electricity bills and improve workplace comfort.
“In addition to the free products installed on site, customers will walk away with a tailored plan of energy-saving projects that an Energy Smart contractor can complete,” said Derek Mills, manager of Entergy New Orleans’ demand-side management programs. “These recommended projects are eligible for cash incentives that can cover up to 100% of out-of-pocket costs.”
