Tips for a Christmas Front Porch

Most everyone does some kind of decorating during the holidays. A front porch is one of the first places a guest will see when they visit your home during the holidays. Here are several ways you can create a cozy Christmas porch this holiday season.

Incorporate Antiques

Upcycling and reusing is a popular thing today. A great way to do this is to look up in your attic or your basement or visit garage sales. A popular item is an old sled to use to decorate your porch during the holidays. Add a little evergreen and pinecones with holiday ribbon to add the holiday spirit to any antique item to display.

Sub Greenery-Filled Stockings for Wreaths

Don’t leave your door bare if you do not have a wreath. A Christmas stocking filled with greenery can create a nice door decoration. To do this, take an old stocking and fill it with bubble wrap, then on top stack faux green branches.

Repurpose Empty Shipping Boxes

Take a shipping box and wrap it to create a faux present. These gifts will decorate the porch nicely. If you use recycled paper, then this is a cheap way to create a great holiday look.

Surround the Door With A Garland

Garland is a classic holiday decor. Surround your front door with faux or live evergreen garland to match the garland-filled stocking. This will open into your holiday-filled home that welcomes guests.

Create a Cozy Convo Area

If you have a nice space with rocking chairs or a porch swing, add snug pillows and blankets. Also, put a little area aside for hot cocoa in mugs. This is a great space to sit and celebrate the holidays. A hot chocolate bar is a great way to gather the neighbors.

Add an Outdoor Tree

The Christmas tree is a staple for Christmas. Why not add one to your porch? You can add decorative trees by grouping them together or decorate a nice-sized Christmas tree to welcome everyone in. If you do not want to hang ornaments, then prelit mini trees are perfect for the space.

Roll Out an Outdoor Rug

Don’t just have a small mat in front of the door but a nice big rug that makes the outdoor space feel cozy. You will want to use a durable outdoor rug for this option. There are tons of colors, sizes and textures to choose from.

There are so many ways to decorate your home for the holidays but decorating your porch just welcomes not only welcomes your guests but also the holiday spirit.
